With the development of medical technology, the success rate of surgical operations has been greatly improved, and more and more diseases require surgical treatment. Most of the clinical patients underwent indwelling catheters before surgery. Prevents surgical anesthesia and dysuria and urinary retention due to incision pain. In order to prevent damage to the urethral mucosa, liquid paraffin oil should be used to lubricate the urinary catheter before intubation, but the liquid paraffin oil received from the pharmacy department is found to easily cause urinary tract infection after being used directly, especially in the urology department. The more frequent replacements, the more prominent the problem of urinary tract infections, which will cause physical and economic losses to patients. Therefore, experts have studied the sterilization method of liquid paraffin oil.
Since paraffin oil is an oily liquid, when it is stored in a bottle for high-temperature sterilization, the temperature in the pot is as high as 132°C to 134°C. Under the action of high temperature, the liquid paraffin oil is boiled and easily overflows the bottle and seeps into other parts in the pot. on sterilized items. Single sterilization is easy to produce small package effect, and can not achieve sterilization effect. After many experiments, two effective and feasible sterilization methods were adopted.
method one
When preparing the catheterization pack before sterilization, prepare 12 liquid paraffin oil cotton balls first, and put 12 liquid paraffin oil cotton balls into a vial. It can quickly penetrate into the bottle to achieve sterilization effect. The paraffin oil cotton ball should not be too thick to prevent the liquid from seeping out of the bottle at high temperature. After monitoring, the sterilized liquid paraffin oil cotton ball has completely achieved the sterilization effect.
Method Two
Prepare a 250ml clean infusion bottle, put 100ml of liquid paraffin oil into it, cover with a rubber leather cap, insert a 12-gauge medical needle into the leather cap, and put it into an autoclave for autoclaving. Under the action of high temperature and through vacuum, the air in the bottle is discharged with the needle hole, and the saturated steam quickly enters the bottle. But the boiled liquid paraffin oil will not spill out of the bottle, nor will it contaminate other sterilized items. Sampling inspection of the sterilized liquid paraffin oil shows that the sterilization quality fully meets the standard.
The two liquid paraffin oil sterilization methods are convenient for clinical use and complete sterilization, which avoids urinary tract infections caused by the use of unsterilized liquid paraffin oil to lubricate the urinary catheter in the past.
